A corner of the Amalfi Coast on Brompton Road, two minutes from Harrods. ALBA London brings Southern Italian tradition and contemporary refinement to the heart of SW3. Open daily for lunch, dinner, aperitivo and the kind of long evenings that should never have to end.
Knightsbridge has been London's address for Italian dining for half a century. Sale e Pepe arrived in 1974, Signor Sassi soon after, and the borough has carried that elegance ever since. ALBA London is the newest voice in that conversation, and the only one anchored explicitly to the Amalfi Coast. The dining room was built around the cooking of our Executive Chef, and the result is the closest thing London has to a meal in Sorrento: handmade pasta from the open kitchen, an oyster and seafood display fed by daily deliveries, wood-fired pizza, real lemon trees in the dining room, and a wine cellar that travels from Etna to Burgundy.
Our Brompton Road address places us directly opposite the South Door of Harrods. From Knightsbridge tube it is a 2-minute walk; from Hyde Park's southern edge, 4 minutes; from the Victoria & Albert Museum, 8 minutes; from the Natural History Museum, 6. South Kensington and Sloane Square are both a comfortable walk away. For visitors staying at The Berkeley, the Bulgari, the Mandarin Oriental and Hotel 41, ALBA is the local Italian.
The menu is led by signature dishes the press has already named. The ALBA Pizza (Fior di latte mozzarella, soft-scrambled eggs and a crown of black caviar) was Wallpaper's pick on opening week. The lobster linguine in slow-simmered tomato bisque is a half-lobster, hand-cut pasta affair. The Amalfi Tagliolini arrives crowned with white Alba truffle in season. And the Grand Gelato Ferrero Rocher, prepared tableside for two, has its own social-media life.
For lunch we serve a 55-minute set menu from £41. Two courses, designed for guests with somewhere to be after Harrods. For an unhurried evening, our 9-course Chef's Tasting Menu from £165 per guest travels Italy through the dishes the kitchen most loves to cook.
