All along the Amalfi coast, and further south in Puglia and Sicily, fishermen have cracked open ricci di mare at the water’s edge and eaten the roe raw - nothing between it and the sea but a squeeze of lemon and a piece of bread. It is the same soft, briny, faintly sweet treasure the Japanese call uni.
The instinct behind it is identical on both coasts: find the best thing the sea gives you, and do as little to it as possible. With light-filled and joyful interiors, coastal palettes of lemon yellows, olive greens and earthy terracotta, an open kitchen and a fresh seafood display, everything blends into warm, neutral and earthy tones, reminding guests of the sun setting on the coastal rocks.

Nestled in the heart of Knightsbridge at 70 Brompton Road, directly opposite the main entrance to Harrods, ALBA is a celebration of coastal dining, where the spirit of the Mediterranean meets the precision and artistry of Japan.
Omakase and crudo are, at their core, the same philosophy in two languages - restraint, precision and complete trust in the ingredient. Every dish invites you on a culinary journey from the Amalfi Coast to Hokkaido, with Italian and Japanese à la carte menus available daily for lunch and dinner. For those seeking a more intimate experience, the omakase counter offers two chef-curated tasting menus, served with a view of Harrods.
La Cucina Italiana
ALBA celebrates Italian classics, with a selection of authentic recipes “della nonna”, brought to life with a contemporary touch to create memorable signature dishes.
Menu highlights include Lobster Linguine, Pink Prawn Carpaccio, Pizza Diavola, Crab Ravioli, Octopus alla Luciana, Filetto di Bosco with black truffle and Amalfi Tagliolini with red Mazara Prawns - capturing the spirit of the Southern Italian coast at our Italian restaurant in Knightsbridge.
Our carefully curated wine list, featuring exceptional labels from Italy and France, perfectly complements the cuisine.

Japanese Dining
ALBA has always been a restaurant about the sea – raw, seasonal, honestly sourced seafood, read through both an Italian and Japanese lens from now on. Hand-selected Hokkaido uni, bluefin otoro, Kristal and Beluga caviar, and daily deliveries of the day’s best catch.
The Japanese à la carte menu is available daily for lunch and dinner, while the omakase counter offers a single nightly seating, dinner only, at 7:30pm, led by ALBA’s Japanese Head Chef Takuya Kaneko. Guests choose between two chef-curated tasting menus: a nine-course omakase and an extended twelve-course expression of the chef’s selection.
At the heart of the experience is Omotenashi - the Japanese spirit of wholehearted hospitality. More than service, it is an instinct to anticipate, to care and to create a sense of harmony between guest and host.

Common Questions
When is ALBA open?
ALBA is open Monday to Thursday from 12:00 to 23:30, Friday and Saturday from 12:00 to 00:00, and Sunday from 12:00 to 22:30. We serve lunch and dinner, with our Japanese Omakase experience available every evening at 19:30.
Is ALBA a halal restaurant?
We use halal-certified ingredients across our dishes, however we are not a halal-certified restaurant. If you have specific dietary requirements or questions about individual dishes, please speak to our reservations team when booking.
What is the ALBA Omakase experience?
Our Japanese Omakase is a chef-led tasting experience built around the season and the day’s finest catch, served course by course at our intimate 10-seat counter overlooking Harrods. Choose from a 9-course or 12-course tasting menu, with nigiri, sashimi and seasonal raw seafood prepared with theatrical flair in front of you.
Does ALBA serve Japanese food as well as Italian cuisine?
Yes. ALBA brings together Italian and Japanese cuisine through a shared love of the sea and its finest catch, exploring exceptional seafood through two distinct culinary traditions. Alongside our Amalfi-inspired Italian menu, guests can enjoy Japanese à la carte dishes and our Omakase experience, with seasonal seafood at the heart of both.
Is ALBA family-friendly? Can I bring children?
Yes, we are a family-friendly restaurant and welcome children. We have high chairs and baby-changing facilities available for guests with young children. We recommend visiting during the daytime, when the atmosphere is more relaxed. In the evening, the music becomes louder and may not be suitable for young guests.
