Italian Restaurant Near Sloane Square
A twelve-minute walk from Sloane Square, ALBA London is the Italian restaurant Chelsea sends its friends to. Brompton Road, opposite Harrods. Handmade pasta, signature pizza, a properly-stocked wine cellar, and the kind of dining room that feels like a small holiday.
The Chelsea connection
ALBA London sits at the western edge of Knightsbridge, which means it sits at the eastern edge of Chelsea. For Sloane Square residents and visitors, we are the closest serious Italian restaurant heading north. Closer than walking up to Mayfair, and a different experience entirely from the bistros around the King's Road. The walk from Sloane Square is 12 minutes along Sloane Street; from Peter Jones, 13; from the Saatchi Gallery and the Duke of York Square, 15.
When to come from Chelsea
We see Chelsea regulars at three rhythms: weekday lunch (our business set lunch suits a returning-to-the-office schedule), Friday and Saturday dinner (the dining room runs late, Friday and Saturday until midnight), and Sunday lunch (Italian Sunday lunch, not English. Handmade pasta, a slow tomato sugo, a bottle of Chianti). Walk-ins at the bar are welcome any time.
What sets ALBA apart from the King's Road Italians
The King's Road carries plenty of Italian options, mostly trattoria in style. ALBA is something different: a luxury Italian restaurant designed around the Amalfi Coast, with an accomplished executive chef, a serious wine cellar (Masseto and Dom Perignon both available by the bottle), and a kitchen that takes pasta-making seriously. For a casual lunch on the King's Road, those bistros are perfect. For a dinner that should feel like an occasion, we are 12 minutes' walk away.
